We offer a 23-acre campsite of largely unspoiled woodland, with 19 individual and secluded campsites of various sizes, and two large grassed areas for games and activities.
We take great care to ensure that the sites are not over-camped
(it’s so much nicer to pitch a tent on grass!), sometimes taking a site out of use for the entire season. We do our best to keep the grass cut on the two fields.
For large groups, we often allocate several ‘adjoining’ sites, so that the tents are not crowded close together (and the leaders can camp separately if desired).
There are water taps strategically placed around the site within easy reach of the camping areas, together with two ‘washing-up’ areas, and a small toilet block close to the camping areas.
The main Campers’ toilets and showers adjoin the main building. The facilities are of a good but basic standard, designed for easy cleaning.
Also adjacent to the main buildings are six individual showers, one of which is wheelchair accessible. The showers are available for everyone to use at no additional cost.
As far as we are able to make it, the site is secure and therefore safe for young people; the only entrance and exit is to the main A281, some distance from the camping areas.
We also offer Indoor Accommodation with beds or bunks for 40, a Kitchen and Dining Room, and a large hall for indoor games and meetings. This is ideal for Cub and Beaver ‘Nights Away’ experience, and for School Trips.
Tariff: We keep the prices we charge both reasonable and competitive, and the fees we charge are used entirely to maintain the site and pay our running costs. We think it is important to ensure that Parkwood is financially viable and preserved for the benefit of future generations. There is a ‘Standard’ charge, but Scout Groups from outside our District, Guide Groups, and Youth Groups who share our values and ethos will usually qualify for the generously-discounted rate.
